How long does it take for you to finish? When you book i will give you a rough timeframe as to when i will be starting, for example 'mid-late September'. Once i begin the completion time really depends on the type of animal, the fur texture and the size. Art is not nothing i like to rush and if anything i will spend more time than needed in order to make sure it is perfect. For this reason i do not like to give a set completion date until closer to the time! Things happen and i am running this completely on my own so please know that taking my time is really important to me and the outcome of your commission.

Do you frame the portrait?I do not send portraits off in a frame, this is to keep shipping costs and damage at a minimum! It also allows you to work with a local framer in your area who will give you the best advice possible when it comes to perfectly finishing off your new portrait. In your portrait package you will find my advice for framing, particularly when it comes to framing pastel portraits! If you need my input i am always here to help.

I have a deadline, can you accommodate? If you have a deadline i highly recommend getting in touch with me as soon as you can. My wait list is usually a few months long at a minimum and even longer when it comes to Christmas commissions! I do not rush portraits so if your deadline is too soon, i will offer to send off a gift voucher to give to your loved one on their special day so you have something physical to give them! Gift vouchers also mean that the recipient can get in touch with me to discuss the requirements for their commission, send me photos and choose their background colour! More information on gift vouchers here: https://www.rosieloweart.com/product-page/pet-portrait-gift-voucher

I would like to commission a portrait of more than 2 dogs, how much would it be?For portraits of 3 animals or more, please get in touch with me to discuss! I like to work a little backwards when it comes to this so i will ask you for your photos first. This is so i can use your best photos to digitally create a variety of arrangements so i can send you a few different options to choose from with different sizes & prices! I find its much better to do it this way than give you set sizes and then later on when you send your photos we can't fit them all in or they don't look right on that size!

Can you video the creation of my commission or make a Tiktok?Of course!! I try and film the process of all my commissions so i have content to upload. Sometimes i don't because it does seem to take more time than you would think so if you'd really like a process video please let me know so i can make sure i film it!

My reference photos aren't good quality, can you work from them?I understand that in some cases it's not always possible to have a perfect reference photo and that's ok!! In this case, i need one photo to use for the positioning of your pet and then a few others for key features and the colour of their fur! It's best to send over what you have and then i can give my thoughts on what we can do! I've worked with lots of bad quality reference photos and the outcome is always really rewarding when i can produce something better quality than the photo was!

What materials do you use?I use incredibly high quality materials to produce your artwork. It's really important to me that your commission lasts for a long long time so i use pastel pencils with excellent light fast ratings to prevent fading over time. Paper - Clairfontaine pastelmat paper. This particular paper is at the top of the pastel paper game!! It holds the pigment excellently which means i can create many layers and i also don't need to use fixative which dulls the colours. Baselayer - Unison soft pastels. For the baselayer of your portrait i use soft pastels, this creates an initial layer of tones and shapes before going in with the details. Pencils - Stabillo Carbothello, Faber Castell & Caran D'ache. The details are what's going to bring your pet portrait to life! These pencil brands are amazing when it comes to creating many layers of fur, vibrant eyes and texutred snoots!!
